Anaplasma spp. ELISA Kit Development

Anaplasma spp. is a group of intracellular bacteria that infect a variety of cell types. Various Anaplasma have been reported, such as Anaplasma marginale, A. bovis, A. centrale, A. ovis, A. platys and A. phagocytophilum. Anaplasma can proliferate in cells and cause anaplasmosis in livestock and wild animals. It is mainly spread through the mouthparts of different species of ticks and other biting mosquitoes. In addition, the transmission of Anaplasma may also occur through needles and other veterinary instruments contaminated with infected blood. During acute Anaplasma infection, symptoms such as fever, anemia, decreased physical condition, decreased milk production and miscarriage may occur. Anaplasma is widespread worldwide, especially in the United States, Europe and some Asian countries, which severely limits livestock production and causes huge agricultural losses.

Anaplasma spp. ELISA Kit Development

At present, a variety of anaplasmosis detection methods have been developed, such as indirect fluorescent antibody technology (IFAT), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), etc. Although the indirect fluorescent antibody technique (IFAT) is one of the most commonly used assays, ELISA has advantages over it because ELISA can obtain results directly from a microplate reader and can evaluate a large number of serum samples. Therefore, ELISA is widely used in the world to regularly monitor the infection of cattle, camels, dogs, goats and other animals with Anaplasma in order to formulate relevant control measures.
