Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Isolation Kit Development

Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) belongs to the genus Rotavirus, family Reoviridae. The genome of EHDV consists of 10 double-stranded RNA segments of different sizes. The outer capsid of EHDV is composed of VP2 and VP5 proteins, VP2 is the protein that determines the serotype of the virus, and VP5 can affect the conformation of VP2 protein. The Seg-2 sequence encoding VP2 and the Seg-6 sequence encoding VP5 are highly variable among EHDVs of different serotypes, and the difference in nucleic acid sequence between strains of different serotypes can reach 55%, and the difference in amino acid sequence can reach 70%. The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) classifies EHDV into seven serotypes (1, 2, and 4-8).

Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Isolation Kit Development

Epizootic haemorrhagic disease (EHD) is an animal arbovirus disease caused by EHDV and transmitted by Culicoides spp. EHDV can infect a variety of wild and domestic ruminants, and EHD outbreaks have been reported in South America, North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The widespread of EHDV has caused huge economic losses to the livestock industry. Therefore, the detection of EHDV is very important for the control and treatment of EHD. Bluetongue virus is closely related to EHDV and is a major factor affecting diagnostic tests for EHDV. For the etiological diagnosis of viral diseases, the most reliable method is to isolate and identify the causative virus from the sample.

Bluetongue (BT) is a disease that severely affects domestic and wild ruminants, especially sheep, which can lead to reduced milk production, miscarriage, and even death in ruminants. Therefore, the detection of bluetongue virus is crucial for the control and treatment of bluetongue. BioVenic is a leading supplier of diagnostic reagents for animal viral diseases, serving veterinarians, animal disease researchers and animal breeders. We have professionally trained technicians and advanced equipment. We can develop a series of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus isolation kits for you to study its infection mechanism and transmission route. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us. We will provide you with high-quality products and services.
