Mycoplasma gallisepticum ELISA Kit Development

Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) is a cell-wall-less prokaryotic organism belonging to the order Mycoplasma, the family Mycoplasma and the genus Mycoplasma. Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) in chickens is an infectious disease caused by MG that is a serious threat to the chicken industry. Chickens infected with MG alone show respiratory symptoms, but do not cause death in chickens. In recent years, as the scale of chicken breeding increases, feeding methods change and feeding density increases, the incidence of CRD is increasing and its harmfulness is becoming more and more prominent, which mainly affects the growth of chicks and reduces the egg production of adult chickens, causing significant economic losses to the chicken breeding industry.

Mycoplasma gallisepticum ELISA Kit Development

Currently, a variety of serological methods have been developed for the detection of MG, including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), hemagglutination test (HI) and serum panel agglutination (SPA). SPA can detect antibodies from chickens infected with MG at an early stage and is a rapid screening method for MG. It is more sensitive than ELISA and HI. However, SPA is prone to false positive results and sensitivity and specificity may vary from batch to batch. ELISA is a rapid, serologically available method for screening large numbers of sera for MG and is widely used for detection of MG infection in chickens for better control of CRD transmission.
