Tritrichomonas Foetus PCR Kit Development

Trichomonas foetus (T. foetus) is a protozoan parasite with a fusiform or pear-shaped body that can infect a variety of animals such as cattle and cats and cause trichomoniasis. The host environment of T. foetus is different in different hosts. It parasitizes the reproductive and gastrointestinal tracts of cattle and cats, respectively. Bovine trichomoniasis is a sexually disease that affects the reproduction of infected cattle and causes severe economic losses to the cattle industry. Feline trichomoniasis is a colorectal disease that causes chronic diarrhea in domestic cats. In addition, bovine trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease, while feline trichomoniasis is transmitted through the fecal-oral route. Therefore, the diagnosis and treatment of trichomoniasis is of great significance to animal health management.

Tritrichomonas Foetus PCR Kit Development

Currently, the diagnostic methods for T. foetus include direct microscopic examination of fresh feces, fecal culture and molecular biology methods (e.g., PCR). Since T. foetus requires a strict growth environment, and microscopic examination and fecal culture can affect the detection rate of T. foetus due to delayed examination and refrigerated feces, etc. In recent years, PCR techniques have become one of the most widely used methods for laboratory diagnosis of T. foetus. Researchers have developed several PCR methods with sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of T. foetus, including RT-qPCR, nested PCR, and real-time PCR, etc.

BioVenic is a provider of biology reagents and kits, which has been committed to the development of animal pathogens diagnostic reagents for many years. We have a professional team with extensive experience in veterinary diagnostic and reagent development, and our R&D team is working hard to develop and optimize PCR kits. We can provide you with a series of customized PCR kits for the detection of T. foetus according to your needs. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us. We will provide you with high-quality products and services.

Workflow of Tritrichomonas Foetus PCR Kit Development

Workflow Details
Cell cultures Cultivation of T. foetus from cattle foreskin or cattle and cat feces.
Primer and probes design Available sequences of T. foetus were retrieved from GenBank and specific primer/probe sets were designed.
Nucleic acid extraction Extract DNA from cattle foreskin or fresh feces cultures samples.
Establishment of PCR conditions Establishment of thermocycling conditions to conduct amplification and detection through PCR.
Reproducibility evaluation of the PCR assay Evaluation of reproducibility of PCR by comparing the T. foetus positive samples from different sources.
Assessment of sensitivity and specificity PCR kits were tested for specificity and sensitivity with a variety of pathogens that may be present in foreskin or fecal samples.
