As cattle are ruminants, the most common disease in cattle breeding is gastrointestinal tract disease. Bovine gastrointestinal diseases are a major concern among the factors that interfere with the development of cattle raising. Bovine gastrointestinal diseases include hemorrhagic bowel syndrome, winter dysentery, diarrhea, coccidiosis, etc. The pathogens that lead to gastrointestinal disease could be bacteria (Salmonella, Escherichia coli and Mycobacterium avium), viruses (bovine coronavirus (BCoV) and bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV)), or parasites (Haemonchus placei, Ostertagia ostertagi and coccidia). The symptoms due to these gastrointestinal pathogens are diarrhea, bloating, weight loss, abdominal distention, drop in milk production, etc. The frequent occurrence of bovine gastrointestinal diseases causes enormous economic losses to cattle farms every year. Therefore, it’s essential to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of bovine gastrointestinal pathogens.

For the efficient control of bovine gastrointestinal infections caused by different pathogens, the practice of biosecurity and the application of disease detection techniques are important. Agar gel immunodiffusion assay is a diagnostic test using serum (the fluid, non-cellular part of blood) that detects antibodies produced in response to infection. Agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) tests have been widely used for the detection of group-specific antibodies against bovine gastrointestinal pathogens. One advantage of the agar-gel immunodiffusion test is that severely hemolyzed and cytotoxic serum samples could be tested with confidence. Nowadays various types of AGID technologies are used for the detection of antibodies like radial immunodiffusion assay (RID), double immunodiffusion assay, etc.
For many years, BioVenic has been dedicated to the development of animal diseases diagnostic reagents and kits. Our R&D team is working hard at developing and optimizing agar gel immunodiffusion kits and we have a competent team with considerable experience in veterinary diagnostic and reagent development. According to your needs, we can provide a variety of customized agar gel immunodiffusion kits for the identification of bovine gastrointestinal pathogens. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us. We will provide you with high-quality products and services.
