Veterinary Antibodies

Antibody (Ab) is a glycoprotein produced by B cells that proliferate and differentiate into plasma cells after receiving antigen stimulation. It is an important effector molecule that mediates humoral immunity and binds specifically to the corresponding antigen to perform immune functions. Antibodies are also known as immunoglobulins (Ig), but immunoglobulins include more than antibodies. Ig can be divided into secreted Ig (SIg) and membrane Ig (mlg). Slg mainly exists in blood and tissue fluid, and performs various functions of antibodies; mlg mainly constitutes the antigen receptor on the surface of B cell membrane. The X-ray crystallographic structure analysis shows that Ig is composed of four polypeptide chains, and each peptide chain is connected by different numbers of interchain disulfide bonds. Ig can form a "Y"-shaped structure, called Ig monomer, which is the basic unit of antibodies.

The Type of Veterinary Antibodies

In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to the diagnosis of animal diseases, especially zoonotic diseases. The unique biological activity of antibodies makes them play an important role in the diagnosis of animal diseases, immune control and basic research. Currently, researchers have developed a variety of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies for the diagnosis of various animal diseases. You can choose the right antibody for different animal diseases to avoid adverse effects on your diagnostic results.

Monoclonal antibodies Polyclonal antibodies
Advantage
  • Homogeneous structure.
  • High purity, high specificity and high potency.
  • Low serum cross-reactivity.
  • It has a comprehensive action.
  • Higher affinity to amplify the signal of target proteins at low expression levels.
  • Identifying multiple epitopes improves the stability of the detection.
Disadvantage
  • Excessive specificity may result in the inability to perform cross-species detection.
  • Vulnerable to loss of antigenic epitopes due to chemical processing.
  • Higher technical requirements and longer preparation cycle.
  • Prone to cross-reactivity.
  • Prone to batch-to-batch variation.
  • Not easy to prepare in large quantities.
