Canine Cytokines

Cytokines (CK) are small molecule peptides or glycoproteins synthesized and secreted by a variety of tissue cells (mainly immune cells), which have various functions such as regulation of innate and adaptive immunity, hematopoiesis, cell growth, and repair of damaged tissues. Cytokines include interleukins, interferons, chemokines, growth factors, etc. In recent years, the rapid development of genetic engineering and cell engineering technology has provided the technical conditions for studying the structure and function of cytokines, and the research results of cytokines have provided the scientific basis for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in clinical practice, especially the use of cytokines for the treatment of tumors, infections, autoimmune diseases, etc., which has very broad application prospects.

All the cytokines are increased in the tumours included in the figure.Figure 1. Cytokines with a potential diagnostic application in canine mammary carcinoma, osteosarcoma and lymphoma. Canine Cytokines and Immune Defense

The preparation of monoclonal antibodies directed against specific canine antigens is laborious and involves complex techniques. In contrast, most cytokines remain partially conserved between species during evolution and play integral roles in immune defense against infections and tumors. Therefore, the study of cytokine concentrations in the dynamic stage of disease is of great significance for the diagnosis and treatment of canine diseases. Interleukin (IL), interferon, and canine tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha) are important cytokines in the canine immune response. In recent years, researchers have developed a variety of products targeting these cytokines to study the immune response of dogs.
