The canine gastrointestinal microbiome plays an important role in the host's nutritional, immune and physiological processes. However, gastrointestinal microbiota dysbiosis is common in canine gastrointestinal diseases such as chronic diarrhea and inflammatory enteropathy. Signs of canine gastrointestinal diseases can be excessive drooling, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting or regurgitation, loss of appetite, bleeding, abdominal pain and bloating, straining to defecate, shock, and dehydration. The main pathogens causing these diseases have been identified, including various Clostridium, Campylobacter, Salmonella, and Escherichia coli. Some viruses have also been found associated with Canine gastrointestinal diseases, such as Caliciviridae, Picornaviridae, Parvoviridae and Circoviridae. The location and nature of the gastrointestinal disease can be determined by the signs the dog shows. However, in order to diagnose the disease more accurately, the detection of canine gastrointestinal pathogens is essential.

As new research into the diagnosis and control of canine gastrointestinal is developed, veterinarians are continuing to develop novel creative strategies to understand the disease process, control its spread, and minimize its effect. Serology by agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) is a frequently used method for diagnosing canine gastrointestinal diseases caused by a variety of pathogens. The agar gel immunodiffusion assay is a diagnostic test that employs serum to detect antibodies produced in response to infection. Apart from simplicity, rapidity and low cost, another advantage of the agar gel immunodiffusion test is that it can reliably analyze severely hemolyzed and cytotoxic serum samples. Several AGID technologies have been developed by researchers for the detection of canine gastrointestinal pathogens, such as radial immunodiffusion assay (RID), double immunodiffusion assay, etc.
BioVenic is a supplier of biological reagents and kits, and has been developing diagnostic reagents for animal pathogens for many years. Our goal is to be a great company that improves the health and well-being of pets and livestock. We have a professional and passionate team with considerable veterinary diagnostic and reagent development experience. Based on an advanced biotechnology platform, we can provide a variety of customized agar gel immunodiffusion kits for the detection of canine gastrointestinal pathogens.
