Influenza Virus Isolation Kit Development

Influenza virus is a representative species of the family Orthomyxoviridae, and it is divided into four types of influenza viruses: A, B, C and D. Influenza viruses are spherical in shape, while newly isolated strains are mostly filamentous, with diameters ranging from 80 to 120 nm, and filamentous influenza viruses can reach 400 nm in length. The genome of the influenza virus consists of single-stranded negative-sense RNA arranged in 8, 7 or 6 segments depending on the genus. Influenza virus can cause upper respiratory tract infection in humans, dogs, horses, pigs and poultry, and it is widely spread around the world through rapid air transmission. Fever, runny nose, vomiting, and diarrhea are common symptoms of influenza virus infection.

Host range of influenza viruses by species.Figure 1. Host range of influenza viruses by species. Common hosts of more than one species are encompassed in overlapping ovals. Of the numerous hosts which support influenza virus infection, only four (horse, seal, man and pig) are known to be susceptible to more than one species (Kuchipudi, Suresh V., et al. 2018).

Influenza Virus Isolation Kit Development

Influenza is one of the major infectious diseases that affecting animal health worldwide and causes huge economic losses. The target of influenza virus invasion is the epithelial cells of the respiratory mucosa, and occasional cases of invasion of the intestinal mucosa will cause gastrointestinal influenza. The diversity of influenza virus hosts and the continuous evolution of novel influenza viruses has led to increasing genetic diversity and increasingly complex influenza virus-host interactions. Therefore, the use of virus isolation techniques to isolate influenza viruses from multiple animal samples is important for the study of their genetic diversity and pathogenesis.

BioVenic is a leading supplier of diagnostic reagents for animal diseases, serving veterinarians, animal disease researchers and animal breeders. We have important technological platforms for virus isolation, identification, and testing to obtain viruses and conduct pathogenic and epidemiological investigations. We also have technical staff with many years of experience in pathogen biology, microbiology, genomics, and kit development. So we can develop a series of animal influenza virus isolation kits for you to study the mechanism of influenza virus infection and the molecular mechanism of influenza virus-host interaction. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us. We will provide you with high-quality products and services.
