Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a molecular biology technique used to amplify specific DNA fragments in vitro. This technology specifically binds a small segment of artificially synthesized single-stranded DNA fragment (primer) to a specific region of template DNA, and then uses four dNTPs as substrates to synthesize complementary strands with DNA polymerase at a suitable temperature to amplify target DNA with high efficiency.
