Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus Isolation Kit Development

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a single-stranded positive-stranded RNA virus with a capsid, a member of the genus Arterivirus, family Arteritisviridae. The genome of PRRSV is not segmented. According to the antigenicity and genomic differences of the virus, it can be divided into European type (genotype 1) represented by LV strain and North American type (genotype 2) represented by VR-2332 strain. Shi and colleagues divided genotype 2 strains into nine lineages based on the genetic evolution analysis of the global PRRSV ORF5 sequence, which has since become an important criterion for the classification of strains within the same genotype. PRRSV pathogenicity and immunogenicity are quite different between the two genotypes, and even within the same genotype, there is extensive strain diversity. The continuous variation of its genome and the poor cross-protection between heterologous strains are the important reasons for its widespread prevalence and difficulty in prevention and control.

Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus Isolation Kit Development

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is a viral infectious disease characterized by reproductive disorders such as abortion, premature birth, mummified fetus and respiratory diseases in pigs of various ages. It has been nearly 30 years since the disease first broke out in the United States and Europe in the late 1980s, causing huge economic losses to the world's pig industry. In addition, the epidemic of the disease also poses a threat to food safety worldwide, as pigs are one of the important food sources. Therefore, accurate diagnosis of PRRS is essential for improving pig health and ensuring food safety. Isolation and identification of pathogenic viruses from samples is the most reliable diagnostic method, for which virus isolation techniques are widely used in the etiological diagnosis of viral diseases.

BioVenic is a leading supplier of animal virus diagnostics, dedicated to improving the health of poultry, livestock, companion animals and wildlife. We have researchers with extensive working experience in virology, genetics, genomics, molecular biology and other fields, and we also have advanced experimental equipment. We can provide you with a range of PRRSV isolation kits to study the genetic variation, evolutionary pathways, pathogenic mechanisms and transmission routes of PRRSV to discover control and treatment methods for PRRS. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us.
