Neospora caninum PCR Kit Development

Neospora caninum (N. caninum) is a coccidial protozoa belonging to the Apicomplexa. It has a wide range of intermediate hosts, such as cattle, horses, sheep, deer, bison, pigs, guinea pigs, gerbils, and domestic cats, etc. Canines are the end hosts of N. caninum and its sexual reproduction occurs only in canines. Neosporosis is a protozoan disease that is caused by N. caninum parasitizing a variety of animals. The disease causes abortions and stillbirths in pregnant animals, causing huge economic losses to the livestock industry, and there is no effective drug or vaccine to treat and prevent the disease. Therefore, rapid diagnosis, isolation and culling of diseased animals are still the most effective ways to prevent and control Neosporosis.

Neospora caninum PCR Kit Development

Currently, various diagnostic methods for N. caninum have been developed, such as indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT), immunohistochemistry (IHC), neospore agglutination test (NAT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). However, these methods have disadvantages such as low sensitivity and possible false negative results. Therefore, there is a need for a rapid and reliable method to detect N. caninum infection in tissue from aborted fetuses. In recent years, with the development of molecular diagnostic technology, PCR has been used to detect N. caninum. In addition, a variety of optimized PCR techniques are increasingly being used to detect N. caninum because they are not only highly sensitive and efficient, but also avoid the high risk that traditional PCR assays may be hampered by contamination of previously amplified material.

BioVenic is a provider of biology reagents and kits, which has been committed to the development of animal pathogens diagnostic reagents for many years. We have a professional team with extensive experience in veterinary diagnostic and reagent development, and our R&D team is working hard to develop and improve PCR kits. We can provide you with a series of customized PCR kits for the detection of Neospora caninum according to your needs. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us. We will provide you with high-quality products and services.

Neospora caninum PCR Kit We Can Develop

N. caninum real-time PCR kit N. caninum nested PCR kit N. caninum Nc5-specific PCR kit
N. caninum seminested PCR kit N. caninum quantitative PCR kit Other N. caninum PCR kits

Workflow of Neospora caninum PCR Kit Development

Workflow Details
RNA extraction Purify the virus and extract RNA from N. caninum-infected cell cultures.
Primer design A set of primers can be designed according to the sequences of specific strains of N. caninum using professional software.
Establishment of PCR conditions Maintenance of thermocycling conditions to conduct amplification and detection through PCR.
Reproducibility evaluation of the PCR assay The reproducibility of the PCR kit was assessed by determining the intra-assay and inter-assay coefficients of variation (CV).
Assessment of sensitivity and specificity The specificity of PCR kit was assessed by detection of RNA from N. caninum. The sensitivity of the PCR kit was evaluated by determining the limit of detection (LoD).
