To date, four types of antibodies have been identified in rabbits: IgA, IgE, IgG, and IgM. There are 14 IgA subtypes in rabbits and only one IgG subtype. Different types and subtypes of rabbit antibodies have different molecular weights, because the number of interchain disulfide bonds varies, the degree of oligomerization of the immunoglobulin molecules caused by interchain disulfide bonds varies, and the number of immunoglobulin domains in the heavy chain region varies. The common rabbit IgG type has a molecular weight of 150 KD under non-reducing conditions and contains two heavy chains (about 50 KD each) and two light chains (about 25 KD each). Under reducing conditions, the molecular weights of the heavy and light chains are 50 and 25 kD, respectively.
