Details:

Astroviruses, belonging to the family Astroviridae, were initially identified in 1975 through electron microscopy during a human diarrhea outbreak. These icosahedral viruses measure 28-35 nm in diameter and exhibit a distinct five- or six-pointed star-like surface pattern under electron microscopy. Beyond humans, astroviruses have been isolated from a variety of mammalian animal species, as well as avian species, including ducks, chickens, and turkey poults.
