Details:

Avian hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an RNA virus characterized by a single strand and positive sense, with a total genome size of about 6.6 kilobases. Currently, four primary genotypes of avian HEV have been discovered and categorized under the Orthohepevirus B genus within the Hepeviridae family. This avian HEV, which is linked to conditions like hepatitis-splenomegaly syndrome, big liver and spleen disease, or hepatic rupture hemorrhage syndrome in chickens, shows genetic and antigenic similarities to mammalian HEV.
