Details:

Avian influenza, commonly referred to as avian flu or bird flu, is a disease caused by the influenza A virus, primarily affecting birds but occasionally seen in mammals, including humans. Wild aquatic birds serve as the main hosts for the influenza A virus, which is enzootic, or constantly present, in many bird populations. The H5N8 subtype of the influenza A virus is highly lethal to wild birds and poultry, though it is generally not linked to human infections.
