The A/H7N9 virus is an enzootic strain commonly found in wild aquatic birds, which can transport the virus across extensive distances during migration. The initial human infection of A/H7N9 influenza was documented in March 2013 in China. Infected birds release the A/H7N9 virus through their saliva, mucus, and feces, while other infected animals can excrete avian influenza viruses in their respiratory secretions and other bodily fluids.
