The dengue virus (DENV), belonging to the Flavivirus genus within the Flaviviridae family, is transmitted by mosquitoes from the Aedes genus and is responsible for numerous cases and fatalities worldwide. While it predominantly affects non-human primates, dengue infections have also been observed in pigs, marsupials, bats, birds, horses, bovids, rodents, and dogs. Dengue serotype 2 (DEN-2) viruses, which have the potential to cause dengue hemorrhagic fever, have been identified as part of the Southeast (SE) Asian genotype.
