Details:
Anaplasma platys is a Gram-negative bacterium transmitted by ticks. It is an intracellular bacterium that infects platelets, causing infectious cyclic thrombocytopenia in dogs. The bacteria appear as blue-black clusters within platelets. Notably, it is the only known intracellular infectious agent in humans or animals that specifically targets platelets.
