Clostridium innocuum is an anaerobic, non-motile, Gram-positive bacterium that reproduces through sporulation. Among the over 130 species of Clostridium, C. innocuum is the third most commonly isolated. Along with other Clostridium species, C. innocuum inhabits the oropharynx and gastrointestinal tract, where it is considered part of the normal gut flora.
