Corynebacterium xerosis is a Gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium within the Corynebacterium genus. While often a harmless commensal organism residing on the skin and in mucous membranes, C. xerosis is also a clinically significant opportunistic pathogen associated with various infections in both animals and humans. Though considered an uncommon pathogen, it can cause conditions such as endocarditis, skin infections, and other illnesses.
