Details:

Mycobacterium bovis is a slow-growing aerobic bacterium, with a generation time of 16 to 20 hours, and is responsible for causing tuberculosis in cattle, referred to as bovine TB. This pathogen has the capability to cross species barriers, leading to tuberculosis-like infections in humans and other mammals. In the early to mid-20th century, M. bovis was estimated to cause more losses in farm animals than all other infectious diseases put together. Infection occurs through ingestion or inhalation of the bacterium.
