Description:
Mouse anti rabbit MHC class I monomorphic, clone 73-2, recognizes the lapine homologue of the human major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class Ib, a protein expressed at varying levels on the cell surface of the majority of nucleated rabbit cells. Mouse anti rabbit MHC class I monomorphic, clone 73-2 is specific for the rabbit MHC class Ib and provides a useful flow cytometry marker of rabbit nucleated cells.
MHC genes are found in all vertebrate species. The nomenclature varies for different species, often collectively named as leukocyte antigens and prefixed by the species or species group, e.g. human leukocyte antigen (HLA), bovine leukocyte antigen (BoLA) etc. Rabbit major histocompatibility complex molecules are generally referred to as MHC, however, some sources have referenced them as Rabbit leukocyte antigens (RLA). MHC molecules comprise a vital component of adaptive immunity, MHC class I molecules are glycoproteins that function in the presentation of antigen fragments from antigen processing cells to cytotoxic T cells.
