This family consists of non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA viruses capable of infecting a diverse array of animal species. Mastadenoviruses specifically infect mammals, including humans and non-human primates. Simian adenoviruses have been identified in various non-human primates, both in the wild and in captivity, whether they are asymptomatic or suffering from disease.
