Details:
West Nile virus (WNV) is a single-stranded RNA virus responsible for causing West Nile fever. It is mainly transmitted by mosquitoes, particularly those of the Culex species. Birds serve as the primary hosts, perpetuating a “bird–mosquito–bird” transmission cycle. In Africa and Eurasia, WNV infections have been observed in sheep, cattle, and pigs, typically without clinical symptoms, although these animals develop antibodies to the virus.
